Senior officials from the 10 Member States of the ASEAN and China exchanged views on the basic principles of a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea. During the two-day meeting, which started on Tuesday, the two sides also discussed an approach for the development of the Code of Conduct and considered a draft progress report on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.
Maritime cooperation on navigation security and search and rescue were also discussed during the meeting.
