As Asian designers look to bring traditional elements into the modern era, a show in Paris is looking to go in the opposite direction, with a journey back to the fashion world of the 18th century. Christian Dior's Haute Couture fashion show took guests on a tour through time on Monday in the French capital.
Actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson were on hand to watch from the front row. British actress Watson, wore a black mini-dress with a sheer overlay while Hunger Games star Lawrence donned a delicate white knee-length dress.
Designer Raf Simons' Autumn-Winter 2014 collection was presented at the bottom of the Rodin Museum's ornate gardens in a crisp white oblong construction which gleams amongst the green verdure.
Guests at the show were first taken back to Eighteenth century France as models waltz across the circular catwalk as though at a ball, in gowns with full skirts worthy of Marie Antoinette.
Dresses were also paired with futuristically patterned waist belts and a collection of boldly colored high-heels in reds.
Simons' time-traveling collection saw modernity mashed-up with antiquity, much like the striking juxtaposition of Dior's daring white catwalk nestled in Rodin's historical gardens.
