于欢刺伤4名催债人员,导致一人死亡案件二审宣判,由无期改判5年。
A Chinese court has reduced the life sentence of a young Chinese man who stabbed four debt collectors, leaving one of them dead, to five years in prison.
The Shandong Supreme Court announced its verdict in the appeal case on Friday, saying that 22-year-old Yu Huan was acting in self-defense.
Yu, from Liaocheng in the eastern province of Shandong, was sentenced to life in prison in February after he used a knife to attack four debt collectors who exposed themselves to his mother while demanding a debt be repaid. One of the creditors died from his injuries.
In a statement issued on March 26, China's Supreme People's Procuratorate pledged to process an appeal by Yu’s lawyers to determine whether he was acting in self-defense and investigate possible dereliction of duty by the police officers concerned.
