The committee will possibly discuss replacing its candidate, Hung Hsiu-Chu. KMT chairman Eric Chu also confirmed Tuesday that he had discussed dissent within the party over Hung's candidacy and her low polling figures.
Chu declined to comment on whether he was considering taking over the candidacy. Hung Hsiu-Chu, who was endorsed as official candidate in July, refused to quit as rumors swirled she would be ousted by the deeply divided Party. Known as "little hot pepper" for her straight-talking style, Hung Hsiu-chu is trailing behind opposition candidate Tsai Ing-wen in the polls.
