The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee will open in Beijing tomorrow. The meeting will discuss the country's 13th five-year plan, which covers the period of 2016 to 2020. But what has been achieved during the current five-year plan? Let's take a look at the improvements in energy conservation.
The ratio of clean energy consumption for 2014 is nearly 17 percent, 3.5 percentage points higher than that of 2010. And China is expected to reach its goal of reducing energy consumption per GDP by 16 percent by the end of this year.
In 2014, the national coal consumption was reduced by 2.9 percent, compared to that in 2013. It's the first drop in coal consumption for the past 15 years. Meanwhile, the country has adopted a series of measures to fight air pollution, gradually reducing the total volume of its emissions.
