An Indian television channel has broadcasted a video showing Indian and Chinese soldiers involved in a stand-off in 2013. However, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said in a briefing that relations between the armies have improved as a result of bilateral mechanisms put in place.
"I have seen the report. The video shows something that happened several years ago. We released information and clarified our position at that time," said Hua Chunying, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
"As we have known, in recent years, China and India have set up and improved cooperation mechanisms including the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination and a border defense mechanism.
"These mechanisms enhanced mutual trust and helped us to resolve these issues in a timely fashion. this showed that as long as the two sides have the political will they are capable, have the wisdom to resolve issues and maintain the peace and stability of the border areas."
