China's industry growth rises while energy consumption falls
Industrial added value is expected to rise 6 percent in 2015, though energy consumption is down 4 percent.
This is according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Water consumption has also been reduced.
Prominent growth took place in the internet and IT sectors, which are expected to rise by 25 percent and 14 percent respectively. this compares with a mere 3 percent gain in the telecommunications industry.
The ministry also says it anticipates challenges for next year, but it will push for supply-side reforms, aiming to realise its national industrial goal of "Made in China 2025".
"We will support traditional industries with market demand, meanwhile improving technology by aiming for international standards," said Miao Wei, Minister of Industry & Information Technology.
"We will improve the level of design, crafts, equipments, and energy efficiency, and support the growth of innovative and emerging industries. We will also provide guidance to support high-end products, and core technology transformation."
