Zhang Zhaozhong, a retired rear admiral and TV commentator, has inspired a postgraduate student to invent a new device and apply for a national patent.
张召忠(网友尊称“局座”)是一名海军退休将领和电视评论员,他之前有关“海带防潜艇”的论断启发了一名研究生,后者据此发明了一种装置,申请了国家专利。
The device first came up in 2013, when Zhang discussed whether or not a U.S. nuclear submarine would enter the Yellow Sea on a CCTV program. During the broadcast, Zhang explained that since the water was only 50 meters deep, the submarine would likely become entangled in the seaweed cultivated by farmers living nearby. Zhang’s theory attracted online buzz and earned him a significant following.
有关这种装置的想法最开始出现是在2013年,当时“局座”在CCTV一个节目上讨论美国的核潜艇是否能够进入黄海。在节目期间,“局座”解释说因为黄海的海水只有50米深,因此美国的核潜艇很有可能会被附近渔民种植的海带缠住,根本进不来黄海。“局座”的这一番言论在网上引起了轩然大波,也为他吸了一个重要的粉。
Inspired by Zhang, the student, Ma Lei, designed an underwater propeller defense system. By impairing the propellers of invading submarines, much like the seaweed would do, the invention can prevent such seacraft from entering waters illegally. Ma applied for a national patent in 2014, which he enventually received on June 8, 2016.
受到“局座”的启发,马磊设计了一个水下螺旋桨防御系统。就像海带缠住潜艇一样,马磊的装置能够削弱入侵潜艇螺旋桨的动力,这个装置可以防止这些船只非法进入海域。马磊在2014年申请了国家专利,最终在2016年6月8日收到了专利认证书。
Ma is currently studying Agricultural Machinery at Henan University of Science and Technology, and preparing for his PhD.
