BEIJING - President Xi Jinping said on Sunday that China and Russia have played their due role in safeguarding regional and global peace and stability.
The two countries, which have been committed to seeking a political solution to the Syrian conflict and the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue, have played a role of "ballast stone" in safeguarding regional and global peace and stability, Xi said while meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who is in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on May 14-15.
