The three-day meeting of the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection kicks off today.
President Xi Jinping has once stressed under the rule of the law, no one can take any chances and count on extra-judicial cover. Under this instruction, the country's anti-graft watchdog has ousted corrupt officials all the way from low-level "flies" to high-ranking "tigers", since the current leadership took office in late 2012 and declared a tough graft crackdown.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has been busy in 2015.
CCDI said it has investigated 37 centrally-administered officials, including 10 from central government and 9 from centrally-administered state-owned enterprises. The officials came from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.
"Along with the increase of disciplinary scrutiny, the gradually strengthening of mass and public opinion supervision, and deterrent effects are enhancing. Now, some of the people, who have acts of anti-discipline, take the initiative to reports to discipline inspection organs. This phenomenon is increasing. The social atmosphere of dare-not corruption is forming," said Wang Huijie, Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
The anti-graft watchdog has also been busy hunting corrupt officials hiding out abroad.
China has carried out dozens of extradition treaties with other countries. More than 850 fugitives including about 200 party and government officials suspected of economic crimes have been repatriated from nearly 70 countries as a result of the transnational operation, with 1.2 billion yuan recovered by the police.
The CCDI has broadened cooperation with anti-graft departments of about 90 countries and regions. According to the agency, it is sure, overseas is no longer a safe haven for those corrupted officials.
